Hans and Greta have been patiently waiting for their new homes for a long time! I made them a while back as samples for a sewing class I was teaching--here's a WIP photo
Okay, a LONG time ago! (You'll notice that I didn't stuff Greta's limbs until after putting her together. I think I prefer it that way, how do you like to do it?)
This week's giveaway will have two winners, one will win Hans and the other will get Greta! Hans is wearing a very Spring-y mushroom shirt and corduroy shorts with pockets for collecting skipping stones and marbles. Hans was one of my favorite patterns to design, I found it a bit trickier to make a little boy doll than a girl, but it was definitely worth hemming and hawing over every detail to get him just right. That vintage apple measuring tape is just the cutest, right?
While Greta has a sweet blue dress with a matchy mushroom felt appliqué.
Several of you had asked whether I would have a doll pattern in my book and the answer is YES! You can get a glimpse of her here on the cover (by the way, Scrap Happy Sewing is available for preorder, yippee!), and I'll give you a closer look at her soon.
For your chance to win a doll, leave a comment below telling me how long you have been sewing, when you plan to start, or what is the super crafty hobby that you love instead! The giveaway is open to all, no matter where you live, and the winners will be announced Wednesday, February 4.
If you have a strong preference for either Hans or Greta let me know in your comment and I will enter you into the drawing for only that doll. Please make sure that your name is attached to an e-mail address so I have a way to contact you if you've won!
Good luck!

ReplyDeleteThey are so cute!!! Both of them! My daughter would give one of them a great new home, I'm sure! I have not been sewing for a long time. I am still learning, but I love it. Unfortunately I don't have much time, but I hope that will only get better in the future! I like your blog! My mail: liespossemiers@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThey look so great. And since I am from brothers-grimm-country I'd love to give one of them a good home.
ReplyDeleteI started sewing three years ago but there's still a lot to learn and practice. I also love to crochet and to do watercolour paintings. Last fall I taught myself how to knit. It also brings a lot of joy to me.
Being kreative is such a wonderful thing and having a house full of handmade treasures makes me happy.
Looking forward to your book.
Greetings from germany. Angela
Aw! Those two are adorable! I've been sewing for a while now, but by hand mostly! And I've just conquered my fear of sewing with the sewing machine, so I'm trying to make a penguin now! The advice I was given was to stuff the arms first, so I'm going to do that.. But maybe I'll try your way for next time! :) And where did you get that apple measuring tape? Supercute!! Hugs from Amsterdam :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, these are so cute! I am from Germany, so I am not sure if I can join the lottery :-)
ReplyDeleteI've started sewing when I started working - I figured I needed a hobby. Took sewing classes and am fully addicted now :-) I am especially into quilting, and I love sewing my own clothing :-)
Best wishes from sunny Potsdam :-)
Caro
I have been sewing for about 16 years. Sheesh... I am getting old. I love Hans and Greta's vintage vibe. Swoon! My 4 year old little man or my two year old little lady would happily welcome either one to our home!!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely creation! cheerful and kind;) I would be happy to receive these wonderful creatures! They seem to come from childhood, from a fairy tale!

I love these dolls. I have been sewing longer than I care to admit. I started as a young girl almost 55 years old - told you I hate to admit how long it has been. Sewing and crochet are my passions. Thanks for the chance to win one of these lovely dolls.
ReplyDeleteLove your dolls! I have been sewing for a few years. I think I started making dresses for my barbie dolls when I was about ten or eleven. That's also when I started to crochet, which is my favorite craft (sewing is a very very close second!) I find it funny that I love these hand crafts so much, when my mum hates them all!
ReplyDeleteI have tried to make dolls, I've made a few, but they all have that high school feeling to them. They never come out as professional as yours :)
Oh my, your dolls are way to cute!
ReplyDeleteI am following your blog since a long white, from Paris - France, it is very inspiring.
I am not very good at sewing, so as I have found that crocheting is way much easier, I am learning how to crochet.
I need to learn to knit now =)
Thanks for this giveaway, good luck to all of the girls.
Have a great day.

My email is arya.forel@gmail.com
Kisses,
I am 66 and have quilted, taught and judged for over 30 years. I sometimes like to do something different. I make little dolls all year long and at Christmas I tuck them into the branches of our Christmas tree. Our 11 grandchildren run to pick out theirs to take home. Would love to have one of yours but it would be hard to part with3018
ReplyDeleteLove those dolls! I've been sewing since I was a kid, but took a long hiatus. I recently started quilting and that seems to be my new love. Would love to win either doll - a dear friend is expecting her first child and they would look darling in the nursery.
ReplyDeleteLove both of them!!! I've been sewing on and off for about 30 years but my real passion is knitting.
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing for over 35 years. Both dolls are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the new book! I'm a knitter but I do dabble in sewing every now and then. Thanks for the cute giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love sewing and knitting. I plan to start cleaning up my sewing area so I can only keep what I love and stash less. Hoping this will spark a fresh round of creativity:) These dolls are just the cutest!!
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing for 64 years, wow that's a long time and I am still going strong. My favorite craft's are many, I make snowmen (sewn) and Altered Art and painting keepsake boxes to name a few. Right now am finishing up a sewing box for my grand-daughter, working on 3 quilts, embroidering Halloween pillows for gifts, and getting supplies together to make a new Halloween quilt to be used as a tablecloth for my kitchen table. I love sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, needlepoint, and floral designing to name a few. I am never bored and there is never enough time to accomplish what I would like to do. Love your dolls, They would look great in my doll bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI love your creations! I've been sewing for about 8 months since my daughter was born! I'd love to win your doll! You're so sweet with your giveaways!
ReplyDeleteI have recently started sewing, but I do enjoy doing other crafts such as embroidery and cross stitch. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletek_rampersad03 at yahoo dot com
Oh no! your going to split them up! When they look as if they should be together forever! lol
ReplyDeleteI knit a bit but mostly use recycled fabric to make things.
However recently I got swayed into patchwork with Katja Muraks book and online BOM
The New Hexagon is the book and the Facebook group is The New Hexagon Millefiori BOM - its worth a look!
Mind you I have never had any success at all at making cloth dolls. Mine have never had as much personality as yours : )
Both dolls are so sweet, I just love the little boy and his corduroys!! I've been sewing here and there for a few years now, and have many other things I love doing too! ReplyDeleteLove your work, so glad I found you on Instagram!
Hi! I started sewing in 2010 when I was pregnant with my first son. I wanted to make him a quilt and I have been hooked ever since. :) I have never made a doll though and I would love to learn. I'm looking forward to finding out more about your book. Congrats! And thank you for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous! I am partial to Greta. My favorite needlework of all times is hand enbroidery... don't get tire of it, can't have enough of it.
ReplyDeleteWow, i love those dolls! I've been sewing for three years now, am following classes the last two years :-) I love sewing skirts and somee dresses. Hopefully my next projects will work out ok, a doll! :-)
ReplyDeleteI started hand sewing as a teenager - but it wasn't popular and there was little inspiration. Didn't get a machine until I got a house so I could make curtains. Now I mostly make things for my 5 year old - who would love these (even though I have your book - not got round to making one)
ReplyDeleteLove these! I just found you through instagram and love what I am seeing!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that my very patient babysitter started teaching me to sew by hand when I was 3 and she was 80? True story.

I have been sewing since I was a little girl. I gathered bits of fabric from my moms scraps and made clothes, bedding and little toys for my dolls. Now I am sewing for my grandchildren! My granddaughter(Isla-7yrs old)sews alongside of me when she comes for sleepovers(makes my heart sew happy.I love you dolls! and if I am one of the lucky winners I will place my doll next to my sewing machine, it will make me smile and keep the little girl in me dancing about joyfully:)
ReplyDeleteI started when I was a young girl, so probably 50+ years. Now I am a quilter and love everything about it. Even sewing on bindings! Your dolls are so cute. I would love to have one--to share with my granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteHi there, this is my 3rd tried in leaving a comment, just want to say that I love your work. I do alittle sewing but nothing like you, small things here and there, what a wonderful creative gift you have. Oh crochet ting is what I enjoy.

I started sewing when I was in sixth grade and I am now 60 and a grandmother myself. I learned on my grandmothers old treadle machine, which I now own. She would let me make Barbie clothes on it. I have loved to sew ever since. Your dolls are adorable.
ReplyDeleteKeels@mvdsl.com
My three-year old would love to play with that adorable Greta doll, while I think Hans has a lot of character. That mushroom shirt and those green socks!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing for a few years, but also dabble in photography and crochet. My main hobby, though, is mothering.
Both of the dolls are adorable! I have been sewing for a very long time. I can remember as a young child (maybe four or five years old), making clothes for my dolls. At the moment I don't get much free time to sew, but that doesn't stop me from buying fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteCute dolls ! I love them both. I have been sewing for about 14 years. Thanks for the chance !

I have been sewing for about two years, although I have made mainly simple bags (one t-shirt). Instead of sewing I knit a lot and I have just started knitting socks, which is awesome! I also crochet and love to bake and cook.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway. I have been sewing for about 45 years. I took sewing in 4 H. Dolls are my favorite thing to make.I would love to win Hans.
ReplyDeleteHans and Greta are darling, like all of your creations! I have been sewing since I was very small. I begged my grandma to teach me when I was about eight. My mom thought she was a wild seamstress and I'd see through my finger so I had to wait awhile lol. Once I started a little while later I never stopped !
ReplyDeleteI own several of your patterns and have made dolls for my daughters for a couple of years now, so owning a Hans would be so thrilling! I've been sewing since I was in Junior High and that's longer ago than I like to count now that I'm 40. Thank you for bringing such sweet things into the world!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!! I've been sewing since I was a child, but I've never been able to figure out sewing machines :( It's more time consuming of course but I do all my sewing by hand. - daniellecorrelle@aol.com

ReplyDeleteMy story began sewing at the age of 6 years old when my mom bought a sewing machine. It was love at first sight! As an adult, I began to sew their own clothes. But becoming a mother my dear boy, I realized that I like cozy home decor, more than clothes. So I sew... sew ...and do not intend to stop more!

Hans is so charming! They are a sweet and delightful pair! I am a papercutter usually, but have recently (since having kids) found sewing to be more practical (and less dangerous than having xacto blades around!!). Your projects are very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI started hand sewing when I was 6 and dressmaking when I was 12. I don't do it as much as I should, I crochet a lot now.
ReplyDeleteYou dolls are absolutely ADORABLE...but then again, I love everything you do! I started sewing at a very early age - but found a true passion for quilting about six years ago. Your projects are always inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing since the 1960s! first clothes then quilts and now also things for a new granddaughter. Your doors are just so sweet!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, these little guys are gorgeous. Well I have been sewing(not very well) from when I was a little girl.I am thinking around 10 or 11, my Nan set me up on her front sleepout with her old electric singer machine and an old pillow case and a tea towel and a few bits of lace and ribbon and I made blankets and pillows for my dolly's. I then did Home science in high school and was fascinated by reading sewing pateren from back to front and unlike the other girls I could just do it. I guess it is in our genes. Since then I have sewn soft furnishings for my home, an heirloon Christening gown when I went through my heirloom and smocking stage in my twenties and now I like quilting and patchwork. I am now just 46 have just built myself a sewing studio in my back yard and I still have that old singer that was my nan's in my lounge room as a lamp table....and it still works!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me be part of your swap :)
Hello Kim. I've just come across your blog. Your Hans and Greta are so gorgeous. I started doing patchwork about 22 years ago. I love doing stitcheries too.

ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for 6 or so years now, and occasionally I make garments. My favorite hobby, however, is crocheting. My mom taught me when I was a teenager, and I don't think I've gone more than a month since then without picking up yarn and a hook! Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI like to hand embroider almost anything. I sew penny rugs by hand. It's been years since I've sewn on a machine. These dolls are cute and look so well made. Thank-you.
ReplyDeleteOMG! They are both so cute, but I love Greta and her cute simple life dress!! She'd be adorable in my sewing space! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have been stitching for many years as my mother is a wonderful dressmaker.I love lots of stitching from x stitch to patchwork to doll making.I love making dolls as each one is so different and has its own character.I usually make little dolls so having a go at a larger doll would be great.I just love your dolls and would love to win.I have preordered your book already.Love Lorraine xx
