Made for Baby Blog Tour

Retro Mama | Made for Baby Blog Tour
What a treat it is to be a part of this blog hop! Ayda Algin’s new book, Made for Baby: Cute Sewn Gifts, is another wonderful addition to Tuva Publishing’s list of sewing titles. Gingham-themed and full of cute and useful projects, I found lots of inspiration in the beautiful styling and appealing fabric selections that capture Ayda’s style perfectly.

I don’t have any babies to stitch for at the moment (and my own “babies” are now *gulp* a teenager and pre-teen), but several of the baskets and organizer projects would be handy for any age or room. A helpful techniques section and diagrams throughout guide you through the trickier steps.

There was a little blank spot on the wall by my desk crying for a mail holder so I stitched up the House Wall Organizer. I have a bit of a thing for a cute house motif and using up scraps, so this project was right up my alley.

I put together a selection of brand new prints and older favorites paired with linen to match with the house ornaments already adorning my sewing room. Though time consuming, hand stitching the clamshells and applique was extremely satisfying.

The flower buttons were sitting right on top of the pile in my button jar, just waiting to be picked for this project!

I couldn’t resist adding a house number from a favorite seed package print as a final detail.
